How Good and Example?

View daily reading plan: Genesis 13.5-13

When Abram took Lot down to Egypt no doubt he never thought that any harm would come of it, but impressions were made upon Lot when he was in Egypt. He never forgot the rich alluvial flood plains of Egypt, where vegetation grew in plenty; a land where the cattle grazed on the rich grass and where there seemed to be wealth to be gained without a great deal of effort.

Within a short time Lot stood with Abram and viewed land with the same potential (v.10). His look was a calculated look, and the choice that Lot made that day (v.11) might have seemed to be one that would bring him great profit. It brought him total loss. He went into Sodom as a rich man and came out with nothing.

We need to be aware of the influence our actions may have on others. Paul said, "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ" (1 Cor 11.1). We need to remember, others are watching.
