He Humbled Himself

He had stepped below the rank of angels into humanity. He had stepped below the rank of kings and princes to be called “a Nazarene” (Matt 2:23). He was prepared to sit upon the well at Sychar and talk to the woman there. He was prepared to take a journey across the storm-tossed lake of Galilee to bring deliverance to a man who had his dwelling amongst the tombs. He was found amongst the sick and dying at the pool of Bethesda. In the upper room He was willing to lay aside His garments, to gird Himself with a towel and wash His disciples feet.

What an example the Lord left! He taught His disciples, “he that shall humble himself shall be exalted” (Matt 23:12). As He taught His disciples, so He lived.
