The Judgement Seat of Christ
View daily reading plan: Romans 14.10-12; 1 Corinthians 3.13-15; 2 Corinthians 5.10
These three key passages in the New Testament tell us about the Judgement Seat of Christ. They tell us that Christ will reward believers for what they have done in service for Him during their life on earth.
At His Judgement Seat the Lord Jesus will examine our lives and our works. He knows all about us, about everything we have done, our motives as well as our methods. What He thinks about us will not be the same as what we thought about ourselves, or what other people thought of us. In His own perfect way, He will give praise and reward for how well we served Him and His interests here.
Note that this Judgement Seat is not to judge or punish us for sins we have committed, because God judged all our sins at the cross of Christ. All our sins were completely forgiven when we trusted in Him. We can “suffer loss” (1 Corinthians 3.15) by missing out on rewards but we will never be condemned, for Romans 8.1 tells us “there is therefore no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus”. We will be rewarded if we are faithful and true to Him now. Let us serve Him as well as we can before He comes again.
