Great Tribulation

View daily reading plan: Revelation 7.9-17

The second half of this “week” of years is specifically called the Great Tribulation and it will involve terrible suffering all over the world.  During this time the gospel of the kingdom (Matthew 24.14) will be preached by Jewish “missionaries”, with wonderful results. Many from all nations will be saved, trusting in the value of the blood of Christ to save and cleanse them, just as we have done (see Revelation 7.9-17).

At this time the Antichrist with his ally the False Prophet will be building a world empire, inspired by Satan. Everyone will be forced to submit and obey. Every financial transaction will be closely controlled, and great personal restrictions will be enforced. We read in Revelation 13.16-18 about the “mark of the beast” and the number 666. A great united religious system also comes into prominence, described as “Babylon the Great” in Revelation 17-18.

Hatred for the nation of Israel and for the God of Israel intensifies. Hostile forces gather from north, south, east and west. A huge army is ready to invade and conquer the land of Israel. It will gather at a place called Armageddon in northern Israel for a final attempt to destroy the small but important nation.
