His Kingdom
View daily reading plan: Zechariah 12.9-14
The Lord Jesus will appear in power and glory to defeat His enemies and rescue the nation of Israel. He will then establish His kingdom on earth for a period of 1,000 years.
The Jewish nation rejected Him when He came the first time to be the Saviour. Since then, individual Jews have been saved but the nation as a whole continues to reject Christ. But God has not rejected them – He has not “cast away” His ancient people (Romans 11.1-2). They have an important future ahead of them. When they see Him coming to deliver them, as described in Revelation 19 and Zechariah 14, they will realise how terrible was their sin of refusal and unbelief. They will truly repent and mourn as Zechariah 12.9-14 describes, and they will accept Him as their true Messiah at last.
All the tribes of Israel will then gather to their national homeland in the Middle East. At this future time in a newly built temple they will again worship God in truth and holiness as described in Ezekiel 40-46. They will experience the blessings which God promised to them so long ago. Also, through them, God will bless the whole world with peace and righteousness as the kingdom of the Lord Jesus is established on earth.
