God Has Spoken

View daily reading plan: Psalm 119.33-40

Another lesson we need to learn is that when God has already spoken, there is no need to seek His guidance. No one needs to put out a fleece as to whether they should be baptized or not. It is a command from the Lord that should be obeyed. We do not even need guidance about when it should take place. In New Testament times people were baptized immediately they were saved. No believer needs to put out a fleece about whether or not they should be married to an unconverted person. God’s Word about that is crystal clear. ‘Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers’ (2Cor 6v14).

On any issue, when the Bible’s teaching is clear, you never need to pray about what you should do. God does lead His people, but invariably, ‘He leadeth…in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake’ (Ps 23v3). Be willing to submit to His guidance; ‘lead me in a plain path’ (Ps 27v11); ‘lead me in the way everlasting’ (Ps 139v24).
