Wording reads:
Our modern world seems to have been taken over by computers and mobile phones. E-mails, text messages, tweets and social media posts enable us to be in touch, almost instantly, with many other people.
With all the emphasis on communication, isn’t it surprising that great communication gaps still exist? There are many families where husbands and wives talk but never really communicate, and where parents and children feel at an emotional distance from one another. There are people with aching hearts who feel desperately lonely even in a crowd. No amount of technology or gadgets can bridge such voids.
But God has communicated with mankind and His messages address our deepest needs and longings.
He speaks through creation. Anyone who looks up into a clear night sky and views the array of stars must wonder at the great power that made them all.
At times God speaks to us through conscience, that inner voice that convicts us of our own wrongdoing.
He also speaks through circumstances. When tragedies and difficulties cross our pathway we are reminded that we are only mortal and feeble at the best.
God can speak too through Christians whos lives have been undeniably transformed through their faith in Christ as Saviour.
Of course, God’s message may be obscured. Creation has been blighted by sin, consciences can be seared, circumstances can be misinterpreted, and Christians can sometimes fail to live up to their name.
However, the most important way in which God has spoken to us is through Jesus Christ, His Son, as revealed in His Word, the Bible. When we listen to the words of Jesus we are left in no
doubt about God’s message for mankind.
It is a wonderful message of love: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3.16).
It is a welcoming message of peace: “Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11.28).
It is a heart-warming message of forgiveness: “Through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins” (Acts 13.38).
God is still speaking through His Son. Are you listening? Will you reply?
Be assured that if you do He will answer instantly and receive you even now. He always keeps His word.
