God…Has spoken. HEBREWS ch.1 v.1

God is Eternal and Supreme! He created all things by the power of His spoken word. Animal, vegetable and human life originated from God.

It is logical to conclude that the God of Creation is also the God of Communication! He is not isolated and remote but He has spoken to us in the past and is speaking to us today if we would only take time to listen!

God has spoken in the material world around us ... “The heavens declare His handiwork ... day unto day uttereth speech” (Psalm 19). His divine attributes are clearly seen in the things that are made so that mankind is without excuse. (Romans ch.1 v.20).

In the past He spoke through His prophets, special messengers who have communicated His thoughts and will to men. They have told us that God is Holy, Wise and True. Much of this communication is written in the Bible.

God at times speaks in the individual circumstances of life ... The joy of birth and the sorrow of death or the successes and failures of life can be occasions when God tries to attract our attention to Himself. Sadly our ears can be deaf to His voice as the Bible says ... “God speaks once yea twice but man perceives it not”. (Job ch.33 v.14). 

However mostly today God is speaking to us in His Son. Jesus Christ is the WORD! 

He is the embodiment of all that God wants to say to us. 

He is the outshining of God’s Glory and the sustainer of all things that have been created. 

He is God manifest in flesh!

Jesus Christ has revealed God’s standard of holiness. A standard, of which all other people have fallen short. (Romans ch.3 v.23). 

In Christ God is speaking to us about our sin and failure. His Son is perfect and holy and because of this He gave His spotless life as a sacrifice for sin at Calvary. He died on the cross as God’s last word to the human race.

Do you want to get to know God? 

If you do then it can only be through Jesus Christ. Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father but by Me”. (John ch.14 v.6). 

We have seen that God is speaking to us but are we speaking to Him? If we, “call upon the name of the Lord” we will be heard and saved by Him. (Romans ch.10 v.13). “If we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins”. (1 John ch.1 v.9). 

The link with God has been broken by sin in our lives but when that sin is removed the link is restored and we can speak openly to Him. (Isaiah ch.59 v.1,2).
