New Testament churches were sometimes troubled places, and we might be forgiven for wondering why an all-wise God should allow problems and difficulties to arise so early in church history without giving His people much time to ‘hardon off’. Had He done so, then the apostles, men eminently qualified and authoritative to deal with those problems and difficulties, would have passed on, leaving His people ‘exposed to the wiles of the devil’, but in His marvellous wisdom, God allowed the storms to come so early in order that His people then, and ourselves today, often facing the same pressures, would have teaching to help them. He had in mind, not only first-century believers, but all believers in the ‘church age’, including ourselves.

John Riddle is well-known throughout the United Kingdom and further afield as a very gifted Bible teacher. For many years, he has conducted a Friday evening Bible Class in Cheshunt. Those who have been able to attend this Bible Class have been blessed richly - and others are now able to get the benefit as well. Notes from these meetings have been reproduced as commentaries, the latest of which is 2 Corinthians. The style of these commentaries is easy-to-read and will appeal to new christians and younger people, but will offer a great resource for all ages. Whilst it is not a “word by word” in-depth commentary, those looking for a good outline and overview of Philippians, Colossians and Thessalonians will find this very helpful.
